Let
me tell you a little about myself. I am a long time educator holding a
BS in Special Education / Regular Education with a minor in Psychology,
an MS in
Learning Disabilities and a 6th Year Degree in Counseling.
In addition to my work in the classroom, my experiences include a counseling internship at a mental health facility for adolescents, summer work at ADRU a drug rehabilitation program for teens, and camps for deaf, blind and physically handicapped children. I am empathetic to the plight of both parents and children who have had to live with their mental and/or physical disabilities and have counseled them.
For a good part of my life, I have also been interested in alternative medical practices that include: homeopathy and holistic medicine, as well as exercise, yoga, meditation, aroma therapy, reflexology, massage, acupuncture, acupressure, and more. Through personal experience, I have seen that these practices can have a beneficial impact on the health and well being of those who use them. I am convinced of their effects.
Other interests are travel, music, dance, photography, theater, gardening, and walking in the woods or along the beach with my husband and my dog. I care very deeply about nature conservation and preservation as well as other issues facing our planet like global warming, over-population, and deforestation.
I hope you will find my blog to be both interesting and informative.
