I had to laugh today. A month ago, I
was that guy that made fun of bloggers. Let's face it, I'm a hick. I
spend most of my days shoveling horse ... uh ... manure, and working on
the tractor. Well, that used to be all I did. Things have changed a
little bit.
When ChaCha gave me the chance to write a health blog I jumped at it. I've got some great knowledge and experience in nutrition, exercise, and general healthy living that will help everyone from the "Road Warrior" businessman to the "Gym Apt" fitness buff. But when I decided to start out with the mental health side of healthy living, I never imagined how much I'd learn.
So here's the punchline: Blogging improves your mental health. Now, I don't think this is a scientific fact (yet), but it's working for me! I have done a ton of research for my blogs, and learned a lot about things that I didn't know, and even more about things that I had some knowledge of. Best of all, I've become part of a community.
Living out on the ranch I don't talk to a lot of people. Life is great, I work with animals and have a very fulfilling job. In a week or so, I'll deliver my first foal! How cool is that? But as exciting as that is, it's still a little lonely.
Since
I started blogging, I have become a part of a community of people who
love to share their knowledge, experience, and laughter. I subscribe to
some groups where bloggers share posts and Ideas. We even have a great
group of bloggers right here that are a kind of family.
Taking the time to learn about mental health issues has been a kind of therapy in itself. It's my own type of relaxation, as well as a chance to be a part of a community. There are many different platforms out there that allow you to try your hand at blogging. Why not give it a shot? I bet you have more to share than you think!

For me writing has always been the best form of therapy as it allows my mind to empty out on paper and every time I write I rediscover pieces of me that I had forgotten. The purpose to now posting these "therapy sessions" is to show others that behind every mental disorder stands a human being.
