Well, I'm back. It's been a while, and all excuses aside, I just wasn't feeling like writing. I started a few blogs, but never finished them. But, at the prodding of a friend, and after reading over the post I wrote about blogging and happiness, I decided to sit back down and write.
The subject that brings me back is a big one. Cancer. A few weeks ago a person very close to me was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Our family has had many run-ins with this battling many different forms. And now it's time to take it on again.

I want to share some things today that have been a big help to me as a caregiver and family member helping a loved one with cancer. I can't speak as a survivor or someone battling cancer, but I can share some insight on this front.

There are many good resources that you can use when someone you love is first diagnosed with Cancer. The first stop I recommend after talking with your doctor is cancer.org. This site is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. It allows you to log in as a caregiver or as a patient, and has tons of information on hundreds of different kinds of cancer. It gives you treatment options, connections to networks, will give you an outlet to talk with other cancer survivors and caregivers.

Another website that you can visit is cancer.com. This is a second party site that I haven't used as much, but has a much cleaner interface and seems easy to navigate.

My biggest recommendation is to join one of these networks so that you have connection with other caregivers that are going through similar trials.

Next we'll take a look at some of these networks and how to use them.
